Topo Map
« on: June 09, 2016, 11:40:05 PM »

Hello,
Can anyone tell me where i could get a printed copy of the topo maps shown here? I have searched the net, but have had no luck finding maps as detailed as on this site.
Thanks

As far as the electronic maps on the site, I don't believe you will find a way to go buy a printed version of those.  You can always print them from your computer.  Or, yiou can go to the DNR site and download a .pdf of many topo maps of many Michigan lakes:

 http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-10364_52261-67498--,00.html

Send them to Office Max or Staples or wherever, custom printing, laminate, about the best option I know of.

Anyone know what setting on google maps or google earth to get the topo info to show like in the individual lake pages on this site?

As far as I know, google maps or earth won't show lake depth.  Or were you looking for just a general land topo map?

Topo is not the right term, the maps are labeled "topometric" so I used topo, but really talking about lake depth(bathy?).

If you go to one of the many pages on this site dedicated to a lake, you will see two maps at the top. They are interactive and are labeled google. The one on the left has lake depths within the interactive google map.

I was just curious how this was accomplished, if there is a setting within google maps(or earth) that would allow these depths to show on a normal google map/earth window.

i.e.

Thanks for the response.

Gotcha.  I assumed through google earth.  I know there is some downloadable material for it so you may have to look into that to get depths.  Or just use what is on here.  Also, it's fantastic that someone used that lake to sell drugs.  That's what happens when spammers get on the site I guess.

The map feature is what brought me to this site. It was nice to view the depths before going out. Great way to eliminate unproductive water in the spring.
